Use the library as a place to find materials for enjoyment and information.

·  Practice proper book care

·  Choose appropriate books

·  Practice library manners

·  Know check-out and return procedures

·  Know and use the Fiction and Nonfiction areas

·  Practice locating books using the library card catalog (OPAC)

·  Know and locate the reference books – dictionary, rhyming dictionary, encyclopedia, thesaurus, atlas

·  Practice finding, and using periodicals for enjoyment and information

·  Know the meaning and location of biography and autobiography

·  Use knowledge of the Dewey Decimal System

·  Understand the vocabulary of books:  title, author, illustrator, etc.
