Use the library as a place to find materials for enjoyment and information.

·  Practice proper book care

·  Choose appropriate materials

·  Practice library manners

·  Know check-out and return procedures.

·  Know and use the Fiction and Nonfiction areas

·  Know how to locate books using the library card catalog (OPAC)

·  Know and locate the reference books – dictionary, rhyming dictionary,  encyclopedia, specialized encyclopedia, thesaurus, almanac, and  atlas

·  Identify and use the biography section

·  Practice finding and using periodicals for information and enjoyment

·  Use the Dewey Decimal System

·  Understand the vocabulary of books:  title, author, illustrator, etc.
