Sixth Grade Curriculum

Latin 

                    GOALS: 

The students of Ascension School will: 

·                    Define the Latin parts of speech

·                    Appreciate the importance of endings in learning number, gender and tense of Latin vocabulary

·                    Translate simple sentences and stories from Latin into English

·                    Correlate English vocabulary with Latin roots

·                    Discuss the world of ancient Rome, its heroes, religion and movements

·                    Compare and contrast the daily life of a Roman family

·                    Plan a participation in a simple Roman banquet

·                    Read simple Latin fables and stories

·                    Sing simple songs in Latin

·                    Participate in quarterly projects which include planning a menu for a Roman meal, constructing models of Roman monuments, drawing pictures of typical Roman clothes
