The students of Ascension School will: 

·                    Classify literature according to fiction and nonfiction, short stories, novels, myths, and folk tales

·                    Analyze literature elements

·                    Use critical thinking and reading skills to understand setting, sequential order, summarizing, inferences, foreshadowing, main idea, stereotyping

·                    Define and use new vocabulary

·                    Identify common literary terms

·                    Keep a portfolio of writing examples

·                    Learn the process of writing a simple research paper

·                    Integrate grammar skills through daily oral language

·                    Present work orally to the class

·                    Recognize and use grammar in action
