Mrs. King

Bucky and Baxter |
The first time I ever saw a
computer was in college. I had no idea what it was all about but I chose
Computer Science as my major. I learned programming languages like IBM
Assembler, COBOL and PL/1. I typed my programs on computer cards using a
key punch machine; one line of code per card. There was no undo button.
If you made a mistake you retyped the card. I worked as a computer
programmer for a little over 10 years. There was no color monitor, no
PC, no email, and no internet. Yes, it was the olden days.
I began teaching at Ascension in
November 2001. This is my sixth year. It has been exciting to be a part
of the technology improvements during those years; the mobile cart, the
thin client terminals in the lab, and the media cart.
I am married and have two sons.
Both of my boys went to Ascension from kindergarten through eighth
grade. My husband is a computer programmer and my older son is studying
Computer Science in college. We'll see what my younger son will choose. I
also have two cats Bucky and Baxter. |
