Reading/Language Arts 

                    GOALS: 

The students of Ascension School will: 

·                    Apply the concept of vowels and consonants

·                    Associate upper & lower case letters with sound, name & formation

·                    Associate pictures with written words

·                    Enhance listening skills

·                    Apply left-to-right directionality

·                    Interpret music

·                    Utilize word attack skills

·                    Recognize patterns within words

·                    Recognize and apply concept of relative size

·                    Trace and write manuscript letters and words

·                    Identify and understand grammar concepts

·                    Show appreciation for literature

·                    Identify grade-level sight words

·                    Apply auditory identification of letters

·                    Utilize concept of auditory and visual sequence

·                    Speak in complete, coherent sentences

·                    Distinguish conversation in the written word

·                    Retell a story

·                    Make inferences
