Accelerated Reader Quizzes - Reading Level List

Ascension School Library was begun in 1991, and with its newly expanded facilities boasts an inviting and stimulating environment for young readers.   There are exciting programs and activities for each grade level tailored to amplify a particular area of classroom study and to help students to optimize their use of the library's research ability.  Current periodicals, video cassettes, as well as large fiction and non-fiction areas.

Please contact Miss Fletcher or Mrs. Lynch if you have any questions about our library.

If you would like to make a donation as a Friend of the Ascension School Library, please contact Mrs. Lynch.

News

St. Louis County Library on Lindbergh (Headquarters) will have a service desk in the children's section.  This is a new service beginning this summer.

The Internet

The Ascension Library is connected to the Internet.  Many students are doing research on a variety of subjects.

Accelerated Reading

This is a computerized program for managing and increasing individualized reading.  Here’s how it works:

1.  Students select and read books on their reading level.

2.  Students take a short, multiple-choice quiz about the book on the computer.

3.  The computer records the quiz results and provides individualized feedback for the   teacher and student.

The library has a complete list of the book titles.

Guidelines:

Students are permitted to borrow books from the school library for a two-week period and renew them as needed.Overdue books are subject to a late charge of five cents per day per book excluding weekends or school holidays.  The replacement cost of a lost or damaged book will be the responsibility of the student and must be paid before the end of the school year. The maximum fine is $2.00.

Occasionally, our library books are mistakenly returned to the public library.  It is the responsibility of the borrower and family to find and retrieve the book.  It is not Ascension's responsibility.

Students who do not pay their fines and/or replacement costs by the end of the school year will not receive their final report card.
